it 'twas only but a midnight spell

i've heard

of a lover

far away

in time

rather than space

his name

was a little closer to those stars

as i looked upon them 

one foggy night

he called out to me

and whispered

"over there

sweet maiden

come hither

for a moment"

but when i inched closer to the voice

i woke

realizing

it 'twas only but a midnight spell
