"The Dancers' Dance"

By: Khatoon Hazara

The little bells chime

Though the music plays at a slow pace that the dancers' dance to

I wonder how long it has been; what's the time?

There is something in their eyes; the greed is glowing in their souls

The dancers' are after our hides

Our money is their goal

I think I may be out of my mind

For when they start dancing, my eyes look down at their soles

When my body moves to the music, where I go, no one goes

There must be a way inside

Through to the monster

The one where the way out, he knows

There is a sly little toaster

Though it is quite dank and dark inside

Maybe that's the way to go, I may not know

We can be lost here; all alone

Making dresses out of the messes we've sown

Or we can wait until the best of us collide
