craving

craving

A Poem by AKhaus

I cannot stop, this desire drives me forward.
Her eyes piercing deeply into my mind, burning my soul.
I run, and run, and run, but she is always at the end of that forest waiting.
She will not release me from this perpetual craving.
In the shadows I can hear the drums beating, beating, my freedom awaits.
I stand alone as they come for me.
I will climb over and above every single one of them, and I will find myself atop that mountain.
The taste, the smell...it is ripe and victory is within my reach.
My captor's control ceases.
