Last Apology

Last Apology

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern
"

2006

"

Starve the fire inside

Another couple days

Focus and pretend

That everything’s ok

Another break could take

One more night on the town

But an earth you can’t sedate

Will tear that defense down

So exit

In color

This place is

A bummer

Responsibility will set you free

A temper cannot hide

From all the world so long

I’ve got the shameful pride

To fix all that is wrong

Lovers’ lies, let go

Now paychecks must be earned

Marketable skills

To fill the void long spurned

Re-visit

Old wounds

Sentiment

Has no room

That dishonesty is hard to see

So come one

Come all

Here’s my

Last call

The last apology you’ll hear from me
