Move On

Move On

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern
"

Summer 2005

"

Nothing etched in stone read

Now I know that I can rest

Everything that had to said

Is finally off my chest

Heavyweight shedding pride

Dignity the finally time

No energy left inside

I fall in line the way I should

Up to the same, old mistake

Which I’ve decided not to make

Neurosis starts to break, I move on

Nobody dances too long

To the same old washed-up, played-out song

The closing note is gone, we move on

It no longer perpetuates

The same day, predictable, mundane

Baseline re-surfaced to stagnate

A state so lame

Can’t say I’m much better now

And maybe I will always doubt

Things that I do anyhow

Thinking about how destination lacks imagination

Up to an unsolved mystery

A world that’s just too good for me

But then when I can see, I move on

Nobody knows what to do

In waters so deep and taboo

Routine comes bleeding through, we move on
