Someone CloseA Poem by Kieran James McGovern2006
SOMEONE CLOSE The past ever-present and you’re drowning Longing for some normalcy A thing you think you can’t be Today sees last night’s clouds subsiding And it reminds me to forget And to never second guess what’s coming next World turns, sunburns Grappling with something that you can’t discern Nights pass too fast To morning’s relapse Bed time, wake fine Bed time, wake fine I know you don’t mean what you say and do They are your demons deep inside Guilt, abscessed pain, anxiety and damaged pride World turns, sunburns And this much suffering is undeserved Leave me breathless Tonight’s a death-wish Bed time, wake fine Bed time, wake fine You could be the beacon of hope you search for If you could undertake some cause If you could overcome your flaws Somewhere inside’s the one they all love Desperation, destination: destitute World turns, sunburns Yesterday’s ashes sit idle in the urn Fermented potential You could be special Bed time, wake fine Bed time, wake fine Lifetime design No rewind Solidify Try and find All that you Left behind © 2009 Kieran James McGovern |
