Lest Ye be Judged (2004)

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

Lest Ye be Judged

Indoctrinated hysteria

I’d rather have chronic malaria

I’ll take a rain check when you pass that pipe

Won’t step in the road without looking twice

You’re a hypocrite

And it’s easy to see

You impose your views on everybody

Condemn the infidels oh so humbly

Burning books of science and history

A million only ways to live

As many ways to be saved

Your lifelong quest is to find the best

Before you’re in your grave

Piss away your money

On a worthless journey

Everyone thinks they’re God

And I think it’s really funny

Love everyone as you would love yourself

But war is ok

And so is greed and wealth

You say that I’m blasphemous

And I will not be saved

I don’t believe in that type of savior, anyway

Gee, thanks. I thought all my older writing was garbage, but I guess what it lacked in art, maybe it had in raw passion? I hope! Thanks!
