Nevermore

Nevermore

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern
"

growing up, growing apart, growing bitter

"

The year is growing older as are we

The leaves have all but fallen from the trees

Each one of a riddle no one gets

Collectively, a legend we forget

But never less

Nevermore

Neither one of us is keeping score

I will guess

Just once more

Yesterday I kept my words in check

The anger only burgeons with neglect

Let’s move for a moment further back

Days when we once had all we now lack

Impact

And never less

Nevermore

An unspoken, broken, age-old chore

I will bear

Forever more

The day is growing older as am I

The sun will sink and soon capsize the sky

No one hears you laugh beneath your breath

No one sees the pretense but the shell that’s left

Never less

Nevermore

It is just the story to ignore

We won’t tell

Not once more

Nevermore? Never less? All depends I guess? haha I gotta stop saying I guess, but when you've lost all words to say that's all you can say is I guess the two words that keep you at it. This is fantastic, because sometimes it becomes the words of unspoken truth, unspoken lies. But after some time does it really matter anymore? Does it matter if it's nevermore? If it's never less?
