Rainy Day Companion

Rainy Day Companion

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern
"

I wrote this like 2 minutes ago and it shows me that i can still create verse at a point in life where i'm losing that neurosis that i think makes a good writer! i'm going too sane!

"

We find some reason to hide

Well, perhaps not you

But certainly I---do

You only dream

When you sleep alone

Shared those dreams 1-million times

You broadcast it with your eyes

But you seldom ever say it

So reluctant to convey it

So your heart is not sewn sloppily on your sleeve

Oh you’re just like me

Tentatively free

In private desire

There was a time you sang a song

And once you spoke a word

And woe-is-me, I was off-key

You didn’t really care

But to finish it you didn’t

Still I’m content to listen

I’ve got nothing

Nothing more than time

If I’m just projecting

Will you grant me one exemption?

Write me off and leave me to mine

I’ll sign my letter with “love,

Your Rainy Day Companion”

I liked it.
The... message? that was in the words was nice. Though at some points my mind began to wander. Though that is probably more because of my lack of ability to concentrate then anything.
I'll tell you though, when you put punctuation in a poem (comma, semi-colon, period, hyphen) that signifies a pause or breath, when you have a lack of punctuation it is meant to be read in one breath.
I just wanted to point that out, although, I'm not one to talk when it comes to punctuation, I'm nit very good at using punctuation myself.

A great poem though!
