viciously blindedA Poem by kittenperfect
Stomach swollen with pain she says that the men have left her hungry.
On nights when she spoons her legs uo to the cavity of her chest she asks herself, Who will I be if I learn to survive on my own? She says to her mother. She says to the lady down the street who thanks God every night when her children make it home alive. She says to all the women who didn't bother waiting until nighttime to leave. On her bedroom wall hangs a portrait of a lioness, wild and bloody; settling the urge to sink her teeth into her fortune. She says she admires her highness' cutting stare, but what she means is, she craves her sight - detailed with perception and brutal with skill. She covers her eyes. She says she once opened herself to a love with a vicious mouth, cold-blooded and ruthless. She says she's been blue from fists full of love and that's where love should never be. She says if you wait on him to give you what you need you'll spend your life empty handed and your heart won't know what to to with itself. And a stomach swollen from pain she says, this is why the female lion hunts. © 2015 kittenperfect |
