A Better Place

A Better Place

A Poem by Kimberly LaRocca

I lay
staring up at the sky
Tears pooling by the wayside
Thinking
How lovely it would be
To be a bird
Up high
Flying free
Have no worries ever again
So many problems
Made by men
Looking down
at what we’ve done
At our own devastation
Longing
to be above it all
Soaring to a better place

Eh, I think what she meant by men was "mankind" and not necessarily the gender. I could be wrong, though.

Either way, it's lovely, and I agree. It would be nice to be able to soar above the devastation mankind has created. I remain hopeful of something better out there. Very nice.

the poem captures a moment. a snapshot. the "picture i see" is a sentimental feeling of frustration with this place combined with a feeling of hope that things are better somewhere else. maybe. the poem is effective at rendering these feelings. good work.

I am not sure if you are figuring our this site or not, but the way you posted this poem I had to highlite your work to read it, it might make some leave without reading, but I gave it a shot. I am not sure I like the dig and "Men" but I did like the poem, Not all men are bad, and not all create problems. I am not saying I am one of those, but over generalizations hurt people.
