Behind My Silence

This is a poem about a person who never speaks for the fear of what they'd say.

For others, words can surface easily.
I find that silence comes easily.
For if I spoke, I would empty my soul
Of everything that closes my heart.
Those are my feelings, that I'll never share.
Instead I will hide them beneath my skin,
Hoping they won't decide to claw at me.
I'm weighted down as the ground cracks beneath me.
Little do you know, I already fell
