Put it DownA Poem by KaitlynnThis is a poem for all of the fathers who are stuck in the same old drinking pattern.
Don't understand why
Reasoning with you is impossible. I want you to be happy, Not drunk. Knowing that no matter what I say, you're Not Going to stop Hurts. Understand that I'm here Right now but I refuse To watch you kill yourself. Saying "so what, one More won't hurt me." Or you could put down the bottle. Realize that I'm trying to help you. Emptiness cannot be filled by a drink. Think of me, I don't Hate you. All I want is you back, Not the man the drink has made you. "Just today, it's football season." It's Unknown how you find a Sport for every drink. Think of me when You hate the man you are, because Of that damned drink. You'll never Understand until you're on my side of the fence. Insisting you're not drunk when your words Turn into one jumbled word. Have you noticed me crying Under the table as you slowly Remember the things you want To forget So badly. Making me want to forget Everything too. Thinking everyone has it Out for you. Oh dad, just please put the bottle down for me. © 2016 KaitlynnAuthor's Note
