imaginary friendsA Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell
“imaginary friends” The ubiquitous noise of my youth Clutter the subconsciousness of now Like toys thrown across a tactless floor Gazing listlessly across The fecund sand of the desert I espy across a miserable existence That offers little solace The last stale morsel of you Flicks across my succulent tongue Reminding me of acrid ambrosia The desire to see your eloquent face Burns into my feverish brain Twisting my heart into A thousand jagged shards Was it all just a memory? The beauty of what we had Was my fervent wish to taste More than what you could politely offer? Only time will heal these morbid wounds I sip upon the herbal melodies of blandness Wishing only to taste the sweet taste Of your honey glazed eloquence Imaginary or not… I miss your wicked disposition And the grand equation That equals the satisfaction Of being with you Kenny L.
