the StoryA Poem by kaylaNobody wants to hear it, nobody seems to care. The flashbacks are starting up, real as if he was standing here.
But nobody wants to hear it because it's not their burden. They don't want to hear the story about how much I'm hurtin.
They don't want to hear about the times that I got raped; when he held me down on the bed and ripped me apart in hate.
Nobody wants to hear the story of the love we had before, they'd rather forget about it even as it haunts me more.
They don't want to know about the threats he left me with: how he'd kill me in the forest and bury me in the bushes.
They don't like that story, no, they want one with a happy ending, with us skipping in the flowers, dancing and singing.
But I'm sorry to say that I can't tell that story anymore, because that one never existed, the pages got all torn.
This is the only story I've got and it needs to be told, because a story of the truth never gets old.
