NightmareA Poem by Kristin LeeA journey through the dark night into a new day.Cold,
so cold. Seeping
into my bones and wrapping me in icy chains. I’m
sinking Deeper
and deeper. I
succumb to the tendrils caressing me. They are pulling me down In the recesses of my mind I know, I must get away. But, the seduction is so sweet Cold, so cold. I can’t breathe! I must escape! Panic shoots through me like fire scorching me alive! Burning so fast with no where to go. My only thought is to GET AWAY!!!!! Heat is chasing me, Dogging my every move. Running, running, running! Foot falls hard and furious, Thoughts racing, heart ready to rip from my chest. I can hear the fire closing in, a whisper swift and vicious intent on murder. Right before the heat encompasses me I hold my breath against the lurid stench and pray. If I could see the light, I pray that all would be all right. As swift as dying I am born. Light encompasses me, And I am warm Warm, so warm. Seeping into my bones and wrapping me in a new day © 2013 Kristin LeeFeatured Review
