Love is like a flower

Love is like a flower

A Poem by Nina Love

Have you ever really thought about love?
Compared it to something that momentarily captures your attention?
Love can be like many things.
The sun breaking through storm clouds after the rain, like a first kiss, a flower.

Love is like a flower.
Beautiful, bright-hued brilliance
Clutched in a child's fist,
Handed from sticky fingers to a mother's warm hand
And set in a favorite cobalt glass bottle
And put upon the window sill with the sun shining through
To cast sea-blue shadows on the floor and
Days later,
Wilted,
Fading,
Being thrown away in dejection
When they no longer convey the beauty
That is so important to our society
A flower, like love is beautiful,
For a time
And then,
When fading,
Is snuffed out and thrown to the wind
Love is like a flower

This poem is very well written I really enjoyed it. It flows nicely and is very clear. However; I would like to disagree with its meaning. It's true that most relationships are indeed like a flower, but I would like to think that love, true love, is something that a mere flower could never compare to. Like the love the child with sticky fingers shows to his/her mother.

Hmmm i agree love is like a flower, and like all flowers love will end, though i take the wilting more as a symbole of dying life in physicality... Have you seen the roses dipped in gold? bastardized frozen times of 'love' makes me sick when people make love fake...

err... lovely poem. :)
