Perfect World

Perfect World

A Poem by Nina Love

There's people dying

In the streets

And soldiers walking

Bravely into reach

Of enemy lines

Just to fall back

And we watch them die

Theres shadows

Creeping into dreams

And children waking up to screams

Watching as their lives flash by

There's a young mother

No older than me

Trying to feed her children desperatley

And watching as they suffer needlessley

There's people dying

And soldiers walking

There's shadows creeping

And mother's weeping

But people refuse to dirty their hands

As we try to make them understand

If we're gonna survive

We've got to stand together

First let me thank you for your comment after reading my Isomorphism poem...I feel moved...

The first stanza about war is so perfectly paced....just accurate. It is difficult to speak about war,
when one lives in a country what is having a war...I never tried to write about it, I don't know what
to say I didn't dream words. Last stanza contains this carrying message. Yes, I see it the same way: many just
are busy with their small business of cars, wifes, vanities. We became a selfish pack of watchers. Just a few
are active. Great poem!
