Anorexic's lullaby

Anorexic's lullaby

A Poem by Nina Love

Lightning shine's,

Bright in your eyes.

It illuminates, every bone,

That's trapped under your skin.

As you stand there,

Stare in the mirror

As the rain falls,

Like tears down your face.

Lightning strikes,

Quick in the mirror.

Glass breaks,

And falls like rain,

As the blood runs,

Like tears down your face.

I can feel every rib,

When will you stop this?

I can count every bone,

When will this torture end?

I see every vein,

Standing out on your wrist.

Can you resist the urge,

To slash it?

Lightning flows,

Like fire in your blood.

It won't let you sleep,

So take a pill or ten!

Your body is too thin,

You’re too weak to resist.

Now sleep,

And never wake again

For you,

This is a beginning.

Not an end.

I'm sorry, but this relates to me so much I'm scared. It's perfect in every way. Great job

one thing this poem manages to do is to evoke a sense of distress and anxiety - hence the lightening strikes, and questioning tone of it.
the main problem with this though is that it could be too personal to comment on in terms of critique, so i normally keep away from that. if it isn't and you want any critique at all, send me a message.
all in all, this isn't something i find to be that connected to the topic, and it could do with work, but you have some good ideas that could be worked with.
