Jaguar

Jaguar

A Poem by Nina Love

Double personalities,

Double lives.

Ones is sweet and smart and kind.

Her name is Belle,

But the other one...

Cold, hard, with a sharp tounge and a sharper mind,

They call her Jaguar.

Its not a name,

Its who she is.

She earned that name

With blood, sweat, and fear.

She keeps her name, her rep,

With cold, sharp steel

And a will to match.

Her will is the only thing

That has kept her alive.

Day after day Belle studies

And behaves,

She is a writer,

A poet teacher's praise.

Her friends are clueless,

Mommy's dead and Dad's never around,

No one knows where she goes,

Or where she's bound.

No one except

Jaguar.

Year after year,

Double lives,

Double personalities

Blend.

Belle is gone and

Jaguar is here to stay.

Do not mistake her for

A friendly house cat,

Or for some rich b***h

Looking to play.

Lets see how tough you are

When she's in your face.

Belle and Jaguar had their problems too;

Mother died

When Belle was five,

And Daddy's only around long enough

To smack her around,

Sometimes hard enough to hit the ground.

Not bad enough for you?

Good.

Black Jack raped her when she was twelve,

Made her life a living hell,

Pimped her out for his friends,

Then he raped her again.

You see?

She had no one.

Fourteen years of struggling, and then

She found the family she never had,

With a father and mother

And brothers and sisters to watch her back.

To keep her safe.

To love her back.

Now she finally belongs,

She's finally free.

So as tan as her skin may be,

As red as her blood may seem,

Know its true,

Jaguar's blood is blue.
