Skeleton RomanceA Poem by Tai RyensWhat am I; chopped liver?Blending rotten marrow with another; intertwining bare knuckles nibbled on by maggots: beneath the glinting moonlight we saunter; our empty ribs twinkling of hollow bliss.
My beloved, would you adore a flower bouquet conceived of roses weeded from the shriveled meadows we've trod; or perhaps an invitation to partake in the banquet of eyeballs stuffed with visions we've sought?
Should you drain breath from my exasperated lungs; might as well dissect everything else for stew: hollow my brain of its thoughts, silence the words on my tongue; slurping blood from my liver, not to mention my heart too. © 2012 Tai RyensAuthor's Note
