Unrequited Love

I've always admired you from afar,

Even now, when it's against my will.

Through the tough years you've made me face,

I hold on to my hope and I love you still.

Even though it's cynical, I hold you close,

In hopes that one day you'll be mine.

If only you could see my love for you,

You will find that it's beyond divine.

Why do I have so much hope for us?
Why do you reside in my heart?
Why do I spend every night moping around,

Hoping for our courtship to start?

I could, at a point, and I imagined it to be the worst pain derived from love imaginable. Two years later, and I've discovered so many ways that love could destroy that make unrequited feelings pale in comparison. Thank you.

This is really well-written.
Lovin' the rhyme scheme, and the entire subject of the poem.
And I especially liked the first two lines. For some [perhaps far-off reason], I just think it a rather interesting and I'm sure painful thing to love someone without even wanting too. But I mean, you don't just get to decide. You never point at someone and say, "Aha! I have decided to fall in love with him." Instead, whether against your will or not, you just do.

. . . And there's my rambling again.
To 'snap back to reality,' . . you are an astounding writer and reading your works is truly a joy.

Aw! This perfectly fits in my contest! Unrequited love, yay, you captured the emotions very well...The simple rhyme scheme is great...I totally love the last stanza!!! This merely shows what unrequited love is like...The point of thinking if there's that chance...The feeling when you're wanting that person so bad...

Aaaw. The feeling's totally relatable. It's a bit simple but I think you've pretty much summed it all up through this poem. The desperation, the determination, the unconditional love... They all pour out. Lovely. ;)
