Hallow's Eve

Hallow's Eve

A Poem by lenake

It's not very good, but I felt that I should contribute something in honor of Halloween, and I happened to have some extra time today......

Hallow's Eve

The very night of Halloween,

Not a soul was to be seen.

Everybody had hid away -

All except a single stray.

That poor heart went from door to door,

Asking just for a spot on the floor.

All the people threw him out.

But if he begged, they started to shout.

The little kitty looked around -

No spot of shelter could be found.

Scared of woods, and scared of sea,

The little thing was forced to flee.

The great church clock struck midnight now,

And our tiny hero started to meow.

For midnight was the witching hour -

Now was when the creatures had power.

Out crawled the goblins,

Then came the gremlins,

Laughing and joking quite terribly.

Feeling alive after dormancy.

Next came the ghouls, and witches to boot,

Whistling through their horrific flute.

Our young kitty was scared to death,

And so fell down 'fore he could take a breath.

Of course he was soon whisked away -

He never would see the light of day.

And yet, although he never was found

His memory shall not be drowned.
