Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Faith Almazan

I sleep in a bed
and sleep on the pews.
I sleep on the floor
when my phone's out of juice.

I sleep in all day
right up until four.
I nap before dinner
then line up at the door.

People rush in for food
Open sesame at six.
We all sit in our groups
spoons and forks clank and hit
        the plates.

It's all quiet.
I can't wait 'til it's seven.
the rooms open up.
and my bed is my heaven.

In the meantime,
I'll wait.
Patiently anticipating.
My future hot date
at thirty below
my bunk bed haven.
