Presents.

Presents.

A Poem by Lilaa

Thank you, but please take back
the heavy scent of cologne you
brushed between my bed sheets,
impregnating it's worth and value.

Please take back the books, the post cards,
the expensive jewelry and the hand written
love letter you gave to me that made your eyes
open up so wide I could see the whole universe.

Ungracious of me to say it, but the gifts that were
given, were just a disturbance, each gift held a lie.

Ungracious of me to say it, but wherever I move in
this room, it is not the gifts I see but your absence
that accumulates them like tiny dust particles.

Forgive me, your intentions were beyond great, but I don't
need them as presents.

A sensible and kind way to depict the feeling of separation. Thanks for sharing.
