Inspiration is envy.

Confidence mere vanity.

Light is just masking

That match that will burn out.

They say it’s so dangerous

To stare into the black

But you look into the skies

And only supernovas stare back.

I like this and what I'm about to say is not really a critique. But I do have a sincere question about the first line: So as you were inspired to write this then would your creative inspiration be envy? I'm been inspired by a number of really good, even great, writers and poets. I suppose in a way that inspiration could be considered envy of their talents. Or we could look at it as an example to achieve our own higher level.

I think I intended it to be the point. Seeing the negative side of everything, rather than the good parts. Rather than seeing inspiration as something good at motivational, it was a take on how some people view things in a more negative light: confidence being vanity, and matching eventually burning out. Optimism vs. Pessimism.
