Slippery Slopers

A Poem by Donald Meikle

There are people out there who dont really care
About you about me or themselves
As long as they get all the votes that they need
To continue to feed their sequential greed
For all of the whistles and bells
Theyve been doing it so long
They cant see any wrong
Their eyes have shut too many times
And their standard stock answers
Side long quick glances
Pass the blame dances
Promises scattered like rain
Have got them convinced
They can fast talk the prince
Of Darkness
Who holds them in claim

Means a lot, says it so well . What else could you ask for. We know who you mean.

The rhythm in this is sublime. The 'standard stock answers' is clickety quick as would be the answers they have off pat. The message, as always, is clear and succint... an observer rather than a judge... to weave that into such a poem is no mean feat.

It's a pity that this piece is so universal. You pull their covers off, allowing everyone to see they are pretty much all the same. Good write. Rain..
