Dream Rider

Dream Rider

A Poem by Donald Meikle

The night mare blows
and stamps a hoof
A shiver shakes inside
She tosses head and arches neck
So instant terrified
A step and mount
A fearful wreck
For yet another ride
Of constant pain
with useless rein
The bit is bitten through
Again
