Limericks for laughing contest

Limericks for laughing contest

A Poem by Donald Meikle
"

Spared for the moment

"
Writing a limerick funny.
Hoping to win me some money.
It's only a fin,
But my wallet's so thin,
I'm needing some bread from you honey.

Sometimes this thinking in rhyme
Is notably not worth the time
But the thought of a buck
To go down down for a look
Was all that it took
Then this ending is not
Worth a dime

This poet just hated to try
Coz his humor was ever so dry
So he stopped for a sip
Forgetting a quip
Regrettably wondering why

Hm, this was kind of definition of a good limerick, I read it is "A humorous verse form of 5 anapestic lines with a rhyme scheme aabba" , interesting. I believe to write humor is much much more difficult than writing any other writing. I am not able, never was. So dry? English humor is dry and I love people that are enjoying being a small clown and can laugh at themselves.
Great small poem, Donald. Thanks for reading "Substance" my new poem. Much appreciated. Say hello to our friend J.
