Babylon

Babylon

A Poem by Donald Meikle
"

spout and take in air

"
Some Saturdays, when caught up with the job, and the to do list, sitting back sharing mountain chablis, watching humming birds at six or eight or is it ten different feeders, tiz then the muses tickle fancies and put fingers to keys.
Poetry to me is words that cause other minds to blink, or wink, depending on the mood they're read in. Hello Saturday sunset ,waiting in the wings, three to four layers of clouds going in three directions, and through it all the sun persists in shining. Hello family cat, looking for a petting belly rub while shedding hair all over
dusty work clothes.
Babble on and keep it all composed beneath the shaking tower.

this feels like you're observing life from above, sort of smiling at it all, content, amused. i like it.
