making of a momentA Poem by Donald Meikleanother repost
To sit on a convenient glacier smoothed rock
Beside a stream cut six feet down in places By ocean seeking water Shaded by wind twisted willow That floated down as a stem Severed by a clumsy buck in rut Listening as you tell me little things That betray the deeper needs you hold so still Small talk, the weather, last week's lightning How soon we forget the 4th How close we are to Thanksgiving Skipping all around the soft warmth of Having each other to be with How much I want to brush that lock of falling hair with a hand full of wrinkles and worn down nails To watch as your eyes catch the hover of A fluttering humming bird That flew six thousand miles to let me feel the wonder in your emerald eyes © 2008 Donald MeikleReviews
