Duty Calls

Duty Calls

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Duty Calls

To cross the twilight chasm of abhorrence and fear
Taking solace in the silence of sorrow's sad tear
Knowing the hopelessness of successful accomplishment
And still stubbornly carrying on

Such is the human condition... This was both expressive and poignant...and all in four lines. Beautiful word choice, melodic flow, and quite introspective. Bravo!

Yes.

So very much said in so few words, striking me right where it hits hardest. Excellent.
