Now and then

Now and then

A Poem by Donald Meikle

I got friends who are dying
Isn't everybody?
Yeah . But they live as if they were.
Making every moment and chance count
Sorta like a hawk
Or a sparrow
Or any wild thing
I got friends who live
In the present
Tense
I got friends
It's a nice feeling
For now.

Yes, indeed we are "all" terminal. As your words say, some are so preoccupied they never know the joy of life. Rain..

Yes, it is nice, indeed. Where would we be without our friends. Funny you wrote, errr posted this when I've been thinking along these lines lately. I'm not really sure why. Lovely writing ...

Wow. It's true you should live each day like it's your last. Great poem, and a nice read! You made it short, but it cut right to the point. The comparison to the bird or "wild thing" kept the poem flowing nicely. Congratz! =)
