Diehards

Diehards

A Poem by Donald Meikle

It's almost time to take the car and us
Up to our special sunset spot
Eastern edge of cleared fields
Which sometimes grow cow corn
and most times are left to sit
We face directly into sun, or
sometimes where we think it is
Open up the Andre White
The best champagne we've ever sipped
a sun down with for years
And sometimes as we reminisce
Four eyes will well with tears
The local wildlife entertains
As we end the day together
Then start 'er up and head for home
No matter what the weather.

This is incredible, the way you picture the luxurious and oppulent picnic. Beautiful.

this is very beautiful and romantic..i love the symbolism of looking directly into the sun.
the sense of love and companion is wonderful. This poem is a lovely celebration of life.
