The Mailman

The Mailman

A Poem by Donald Meikle

A truck full of mail, packages piled so high the first thirty or so take forever to find.  The roads are slick. The heater doesn't. The days last forever, and every once in a while I get to see Christmas in another child's eyes. All I need is elves.

Now, this really made me chuckle. The poor mailmen of this world at Christmastime. You said a lot in this short write. Fabulous!

The heater doesn't, I like that :) I am always impressed by people's ability to make poetry out of everyday life

This clever short brought a smile to the face of one who literally just returned from mailing packages at the Post Office.
Nothing like Christmas in a child's eyes, no matter what the age!
