Wide eyed teary eyed girl

Wide eyed teary eyed girl

A Poem by LisaButterfly

She sat there
That wide eyed
Teary eyed girl

And told me of her sorrow
The tear stained earth could hear her cry

She was chasing neglect
Finding comfort in emotionally absent men

That wide eyed
Teary eyed girl

Asked me questions
Hoping I would find the answers
A gentle breeze then said that the earth has never been owned by the sun

She was afraid
And her fear was held by her rage
"Why Do I fall in love with men who hurt me?"

The gentle breeze came to visit once again
Love is kind
Love is gentle
Love is equal

Love was the guide
That entered her heart like soft snowflakes
Trickling upon her worn out face

Gentle and Cleansing
Passing over her eyelids which has known moisture from the tears they shed

"You are chasing neglect" she heard the breeze say
That wide eyed
Teary eyed girl

She listened more closely to that gentle breeze
Neglect was known to her
Emotional absence is what men has always offered her

The first man
The closest man
He was working of course
You can't blame him

She had a million lies for the answer to How are you?
She had learnt to settle with little
Compromise her needs
To remain voiceless

The breeze spoke again
Love is kind
Love is gentle
Love is equal

She passed through that breeze
With time
She told herself to say goodbye to childhood patterns
Turned away from those patterns between her and the men she choose to neglect her

She no longer was a stranger in a foreign land
And found spaces of boundlessness and abundance
Within her
And she meditated
