Accepting responsibility for our actions is important. Accountability. Never too late to make changes. That’s where I drifted with your brevity. Forgiveness is so powerful. Forgiving others, forgiving yourself.

Some people forgive others out of spite. Forgiveness and indifference can be powerful tools. Sometimes in service of extreme, very dark types of manipulation. Manipulating someone into a false sense of closure can decenter their entire life, you can redefine how they process reality. Convincing someone you are "Forgiving" them for things they didn't do is, well, one of the worst ways to gaslight someone. Or yourself. We all lie to ourselves more than anyone else. It is how we participate in humanities shared reality without losing our mind. I think I've been forgiving myself for circumstances I had nothing to do with for most of my life, it's caused me to lose sight of personal accountability from time to time. We all have to take responsibility for our circumstance eventually, even the things that may not be anyone's fault, let alone our own. None of that had too much to do with the poem, I'm just rambling on about things.

We should always be held accountable for how we choose to act as adults. How we decide to act is always our responsibility and no one else's.
