This poignant poem elegantly explores themes of individuality and shared human experience through its minimalist imagery. The first stanza, highlighting the one-footed man's ability to find his own balance, symbolizes resilience and self-sufficiency, emphasizing that strength often comes from within despite physical limitations. The contrasting second line, "the two-footed people / they must share their existence," invites reflection on the interconnectedness of humanity, suggesting that while some may face unique challenges, everyone relies on communal support and shared understanding. Overall, the poem beautifully encapsulates a universal truth about the diverse ways people navigate life, inspiring readers to appreciate both personal resilience and collective empathy. Well penned and so clever!
I LOVE this. I love that the poem gives way to being both empowering for both parties involved, and yet, has almost haunting hint of sorrow. As if to say the one footed man is missing what so many are not, and the two footed people don't realize how good they have it, and it fades to ignorance. Its a beautiful, simple, minimalist look into sufficiency, identity, and what we humans look for to feel sated. Thank you for this, it is proof that not many words need to be said to say...well, a lot!

To be quite honest, I think any longer and it would have done the excellent imagery a disservice. You said so much that relates to so many without watering it down, or detracting from what itis or could be to so many. There is power in so little! And it appears to be a style that suits you.
