Well, this was a complete twist. like watching something familiar turn into something darker. Where I'm from the waterfalls are beautiful and there are trails for people to walk around and have a picnic in and take a dip, if they wanted. Although, I confess, I haven't swam in that waterfall, since I was a small child. I don't know why... I guess, I've become afraid of the biting shrimps that live in it lol
But from what I read, this waterfall is a metaphor for a person's mask slipping, it's a stark drop from the charming to forgotten. The words fall, the way a waterfall crashes downward, I definitely do not want to swim in that, it might have more than just the biting shrimps hehe.

I also just remembered why I stopped swimming in it, not only the biting shrimps, but there are huge freshwater crabs, crawling all over that place, I really don't know if those giant, scary crabs are still lurking, beneath the waters, but it pinched and cut up my foot when I was a little girl, and I haven't swam in that waterfall eversince haha but it is still lovely to visit. It's one of the main attractions for tourist, where I live.

Most of the "tourists" we get now are from the military build up, if that even counts as tourism hehe The drownings that happen are really rare, and usually it is tourists swimming in places the locals would never go into. Even that hardly ever happens. The last one I heard about was an elderly man, and people think he might have taken his own life.
