the video was interesting

Gotye is an interesting performer. He refused to monetize that video passing up all kind of millions in adrevenue. He willfully never capitalized on the exposure that song brought him. I think he felt guilty exploiting a personal relationship for financial gain, he didn't really have a problem with youtubes monetization program... he just didn't want to admit he had a concience in public.
