To Far Gone

I tried to wait,

But it took so long,

Now I fear its much too late,

I am to far gone.

Upon my cheek rests a single tear,

I sit here and cry,

I am filled with fear,

As I beg for God to let me die.

Now my time has come,

It took so long,

I have waited some,

But I was already, to far gone.

This is very nice and eloquent. You really feel for the speaker. Though, I am a bit unclear as to whether you mean, "Too far gone"? Seeing as you used it that way several times in the poem, I am confused,
