When It Hit

because the moment you smiled

something bigger began

my heart stopped

even though i knew 

the moment was just another moment

it was suppose to be just another moment

i couldn't have been more wrong

i quivered

face flushed

something dropped in the pit of my stomach

and i have a feeling you've known something similar

know those sudden moments of static on televisions

or when you suddenly get caught on a crack in the street

and that second of furry where you begin to panic

before you regain your balance 

it hit me

 the sun shined a little brighter

my breath stopped for that second and as my chest panged

all because i was right next to you
