I can’t understand what I’ve done wrong

The music of my life does not make a song

The instrument of choice is left un-played

The unique note of my life can only fade

 

What have I done to earn such a punishment?

What cruel injustice leads to this large development?

Which child did I leave with no hope for life?

Which young person no longer looks for a wife?

 

How can I be blamed for things that just happen?

What logic is in me just sitting and tapping?

Can action result from passive thinking?

Is there someone to witness my shrinking?

 

I only ask for someone to lend an ear,

To listen to the concert of my sorrowful year
