A Poem by Brandon Houser

Keep on pacing
Climb the walls
Do your duty
Your duty calls
You're all out of patience
So let it go
You're in top flight
But you may crash land
So find your time
In a grain of sand
But learn to hold on tight
Before it blows
The directions you take
Will dig your holes

Just keep pushing
The hands of fate
And make the world over
Into something you hate
It doesn't really take much
To live a lie
Sooner or later
All you love is gone
And in this life
You make yourself a pawn
To wallow in your pity
Until you die
The directions you take
Can blind your eyes

In a life
Of doubt and gloom
Anger feeds
The hand of doom
You know this
You know this all too well
I've seen you now
Good and bad
I've seen you happy
I've seen you sad
If you're so close to heaven
Then get out of hell
The directions you take
You can't foretel

There’s a raw honesty in this one, Brandon. The rhythm feels worn and human, and the questions land true. A strong piece.

Not sure what to add here. I have been writing poems since I was 16. Saved much of it, lost some of it. I'm 51 now. Lately I have felt a need to get my voice out there. I guess like a lot of .. more..
