Feed Off Me

Feed Off Me

A Poem by Brandon Houser

Though the world may be sitting still
You may feel like you've had your fill
With it's constant shrinking will
And it's nervous hollow chill
I want you to see
That you can feed off me

When you still do what you must
But everything still fades to dust
While you run out of all your trust
As well as all your earthly lust
I want you to see
That you can feed off me

Yes I know what it's like
To be caught in a fire
I've been cooked in the flames
Like a bird on a wire
And I don't care to move up higher
But now I know.....
Which way I should go

So even though you may admit defeat
Because this damn life doesn't seem too discreet
When you're just too cold to slip in the heat
And your broken heart still skips every beat
I hope you see
That you can feed off me.

Warm words for those experiencing the chill of our world. And it can be very cold at times. Quietly reassuring Brandon and your words also show a generosity of spirit.

I appreciate your kind words Chris :)
There’s a gentle steadiness in this, Brandon. The way you offer your fire back as warmth feels tender and true.

You need to crack open that notebook for some more gems, my friend...
You have an analytical mindset. Very observant writer.

Highly focused and complex choice of words.

A delight to read. A strengthening piece.
