Dancing On The Blade's Edge

Dancing On The Blade's Edge

A Poem by Brandon Houser
"

Maybe something deep here but I was overcome to just be playful with words

"
I think my pulse is up
Danger all around
Howling at a black moon
With all the hungry hounds
Can you hear me calling
Can you hear me scream
I know it may be scary
But I think I like this dream

Dancing on the blade's edge
Close enough to draw blood
Shaking on the fault line
In waters bound to flood
Walking on a tight rope
Grabbing thorns in the hedge
Searching for the quick rush
Dancing on the blade's edge

I think my heart skipped
Breathing getting deep
Flying like a danger bird
And I can barely speak
Do you see me hungry
Do you see me crawl
Like a caged animal
Who wants to take it all

Dancing on the blade's edge
Close enough to leave scars
Burning out the power grid
Just so I can see stars
Jumping on the live wire
Flying off the ledge
Searching for the quick rush
Dancing on the blade's edge

Is it time to wake up
Is it time to come down
Is time to get lost
Just so I can be found
Can you hear it calling
Can you see the prize
I can try to hold back
But I can feel the quicksand rise

Dancing on the blade's edge
Close enough to feel the sting
Breaking all the freedom bells
Just so I can hear them ring
Falling from a flag pole
While I sing my pledge
Searching for the quick rush
Dancing on the blade's edge

You let the danger stay playful, but there’s a real heartbeat beneath it. The repetition builds a kind of charged momentum... I felt the rush right with you.

About
Not sure what to add here. I have been writing poems since I was 16. Saved much of it, lost some of it. I'm 51 now. Lately I have felt a need to get my voice out there. I guess like a lot of .. more..
