Perseverance

Perseverance

A Poem by Brandon Houser

Perseverance calls the waves
When I want to drown in deep
And leads to rivers flowing
Where the lighthouse current sleeps

Stuck in restless thought
Perseverance turns my pages
Like a restless broken dancer
Tapping swiftly on life's stages

To the song I couldn't sing
For the words I couldn't find
Perseverance plays the tune
To all the ties that bind.

When I am stalled on the road
I can feel it in the wind
When I cannot find my home
Perseverance knows the end

When I can not find my home
Perseverance knows the end

When the going gets tough, it helps to have an inner strength. A lovely poem Brandon. The first stanza shines.

This is lovely, Brandon. There’s such a gentle steadiness in the way you write perseverance. not as force, but as something that rises beside you when everything else feels heavy. I felt the calm in it.

Not sure what to add here. I have been writing poems since I was 16. Saved much of it, lost some of it. I'm 51 now. Lately I have felt a need to get my voice out there. I guess like a lot of .. more..
