I held the lantern
To the world I couldn't see the light From the dark Like a searcher in the wild Looking for the flame That has the match But can't find a spark I held the lantern To the threshold You can only see Distant in the night I saw falling stars that drift For stones that gather moss Feeding words to angels Wounded in their flight I held the lantern To your soul Hoping to see Mirrors into mine I saw mercy go untamed In velocity unknown Lost in corners No heart can ever find I held the lantern To myself In the end Hoping I can see A place to live in peace With the sinners and the saints Who left their mark Lingering deep inside of me © 2026 Brandon HouserFeatured Review
