Real Time

Real Time

A Poem by Brandon Houser

All my words sound like a prayer
All your whispers sound like confession
Though my instinct says beware
Still what lingers takes possession

I can't give you all the blame
I can't give you all the yearning
Though my senses dull the flame
Still I can't escape the burning

I'll let you watch me fall in real time
If you tell me secrets all undone
In breath that sets off all the wind chimes
Hidden from the rivers on the run

All my whispers now escaping
All your words now feel like silence
Though my senses feel the shaping
Still we hunger for the guidance

Can I give you all my fire
Can I give you all my ashes
Though I'm dancing on a wire
Still I'm waiting for the crashes

I'll let you watch me fall in real time
If you share your stories all unraveled
In pages written on a fault line
Hidden on the roads we'll never travel

Isn't it funny how things read so differently as we get to know one another...
I love the easy insinuations, whether intended or not, they make my heart pound.
I love the words repeated, "Let you, Give you, In breath that sets off all the wind chimes."
I have no idea what it means but it grabs me and shakes me.

I really resonated with this piece of art. Especially 'Can I give you all my fire. Can I give you all my ashes'

Sadness and vulnerability are evident in this poem Brandon. A lovely piece of writing spoken quietly. Well done.

Thank you Chris. Always thankful for your input. :)
Beautiful tension in this. Feels like falling and holding on at the same time. Soft, vulnerable, and the imagery hits just right.

Oh My Gosh! I love that!
I like the rhyming but the sense it makes is awesome.
A very personal write it seems.
Lovely and mysterious.

Not sure what to add here. I have been writing poems since I was 16. Saved much of it, lost some of it. I'm 51 now. Lately I have felt a need to get my voice out there. I guess like a lot of .. more..
