The Selfish Paradox

Selfish,

bandied word

tool,

weapon,

guilt laden,

easily dropped,

easily absorbed,

violent word.

They say

it's not what you got,

it's what you give,

fools,

where is the intrinsic value

smiles on their faces

their needs met

your needs are,

whispers rustling dry leaves,

seldom heard

always ignored.

If I am so

Selfish,

then why am I

rat on a wheel.

Energy is zero sum,

you give it

it will not come back,

it is converted,

sucked out

by those around you.

I am bone dry

mind boggled,

soul beaten,

happiness

fleeting.

Where is my

parasitical appature,

I need to feed,

just like

all of you.

It is burned away,

stubbed

by the word

Selfish,

if I am

the Selfish one

why am I closer to death

than you.
